Playbuilder Scheme for Nutberry Fields

Playbuilder Scheme for Nutberry Fields

The Official Opening will take place on Tuesday 18th August at 1-30pm, It is hoped that Angella Smith MP and Mnister for Communities will be at the opening.

Thurrock Council has been successfull in obtaining a massive grant from Central Goverment to supply new play euipment for 8 to 13 year olds.  The Stifford Community Forum has been given the task of recommending where play equipment can be placed and to pull the community together in providing the best scheme.

The Forum has three play areas within its area: Blackshots, Blackthorn and Nutbery Fields.  As both Blackshots and Blackthon have recently enjoyed a facelift with equipment for under 8s and over 13s the obvious choice is Nutberry Fields.

Playbuilder is specific in its requirements and has suggested a new approach to play equipment, moving away from traditional swings, slides and roundabouts.  We have consulted local experts on what they would like to seeat Nutberry Fieldsand Stifford Clays Junior and year 7 at William Edwards Schools have made some very imaginative suggestions.  If you know children who go to other schools then it is not too late for them to have their say.

We have also consulted with local residents by way of an open meeting held at Headon Hall on January 6th and we have reassured residents of any worries they had over the management of this project.  We have also asked anybody who wishes to be part of a group to take this forward.

Should you wish to be part of this project or have any worries then please write to Coucillor Hale or Councillor Pearce c/o The Civic Offices, New Road, Grays, RM17 6SL or email info@stiffordcf.org.uk or dehale@thurrock.gov.uk

On Wedneday 11th March we recieved conformation that Nutberry Fields had been allocated £42,000 from the Playbuilder Scheme and an extra £30,000 from Veolia Cleanaway Mardyke Trust, also the Stifford Forum has used the balance of 2008 to 2009 allocation of £2,065 towards this scheme.  Therefore a total of £74,065 will be spent on  play equipment.  We will now be starting on the design process shortley.
